Our Patient-Centered Story
At age 28, our founder, Michael O’Neil underwent aggressive surgery and chemotherapy in order to treat his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. While his clinical treatment was excellent, he often felt that his care was being done to him rather than with him. During treatment, Michael spent a lot of time waiting and wondering, a state that fueled his desire to change the status quo so that others would not have to go through a similar experience. After his recovery, he made it his mission to help people feel more connected to their care and he founded Get Well. Today, more than two decades later, Michael and his mission live on.
Annually, we serve more than 10 million patients at over 1,000 hospitals and clinical partner sites, using longitudinal data analytics to better serve patients and clinicians. For nearly 25 years, Get Well’s award-winning solutions have been recognized industry-wide, including in 2024 by KLAS Research and AVIA Marketplace.

Translating Patient Engagement Theory into Practice
Get Well’s O’Neil Center for Patient Engagement Research is the industry’s first think tank for studying and advancing the science of patient and family engagement. It focuses on collecting and analyzing data in order to inform more effective healthcare management.
Whether that means leveraging empirical evidence to demonstrate the outcomes associated with patient engagement, or developing evidence-based tools and processes to help healthcare organizations with on-the-ground strategy and change management, the O’Neil Center works in partnership with Get Well’s clients to better understand both the art and science of patient engagement.
Philanthropy in Order to Support Emotional, Personal Needs
Get Involved Now, Get Well’s 501(c)(3) charity, was established in order to help meet the personal and emotional needs of cancer and pediatric patients, high-risk pregnancy patients, and U.S. veterans during life-defining healthcare moments.
Through fundraising, community events, and donations, the Get Involved Now grant program helps hospitals nationwide better support patients.
