Michael O'Neil, Jr.
Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Michael O'Neil, Jr.Michael O’Neil was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of 28. After stomach surgery to remove the tumor and four cycles of chemotherapy at Johns Hopkins Hospital, he immediately began building GetWellNetwork®. GetWellNetwork works with hospitals to improve performance and outcomes through patient engagement.

Today, GetWellNetwork is exclusively endorsed by the American Hospital Association as the leading provider of Interactive Patient Care solutions.  In 2007, GetWellNetwork was awarded Best of Show and Best Application to Enhance Patient Care and Access by Consumer Health World.  In 2008, GetWellNetwork was named a “Future 50” winner by SmartCEO Magazine as one of the fastest growing companies in the Washington, DC area.  In 2009, GetWellNetwork was selected as a Technology Fast 500™ winner, an award program sponsored by Deloitte that recognizes 500 of the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America based on percentage of fiscal year revenue growth over five years.  

Previously, Michael spent six years at leading New York and Boston advertising agencies, developing brand strategies and managing marketing campaigns for global consumer brands including Kohler faucets, Tanqueray gin, Playskool toys and Ocean Spray juices. He gained recognition for new business wins, strategic positioning and brand launches, and Deutsch, Inc. named him the industry’s youngest account supervisor in 1995. 

Michael is a member of Mindshare, a forum of CEOs from leading early-stage technology and life sciences companies in Washington, DC. He also serves on the Corporate Leadership Council at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.  Michael speaks publicly on the power of patient engagement to audiences ranging from cancer patients to healthcare providers and suppliers, and delivered keynote speeches at Frost & Sullivan’s annual IT awards, Christiana Care Health System’s Focus on Excellence Awards and National Cancer Awareness Day events across the US.

In 2007, O’Neil was included in the “Top 40 Under 40 Entrepreneurs” in Venture Magazine, and was selected as a Finalist in the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” program in the Greater Washington, DC market. 

Michael has served as an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in Washington, DC.  In addition, Michael is a guest speaker at University of Virginia Law School, the Robert H. Smith Business School - University of Maryland and The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. 

O’Neil received a B.A. with honors from the University of Notre Dame and a JD/MBA from Georgetown University. O’Neil lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland with his wife Wendy and their two daughters.

Michele Perry
Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer

Michele PerryMichele Perry joined GetWellNetwork in September 2009 and serves as its Chief Operating Officer. In her role Perry drives the overall product and company growth strategies to ensure GetWellNetwork’s breakthrough Interactive Patient Care (IPC) solutions best meet the needs of rapidly expanding markets in the digital health arena.

Prior to joining GetWellNetwork, Perry served as Chief Marketing Officer for Sourcefire, (Nasdaq: FIRE) a world leader in cybersecurity solutions. After joining Sourcefire in March 2004 she drove the company’s marketing, branding and product management initiatives, helping to grow the company from $9 million to $76 million in revenue during her tenure, to a market cap of over $550 million.

Prior to Sourcefire, Perry held top marketing and management positions at USinternetworking, Software AG and IBM, as well as operating her own strategic marketing and business development consultancy for fast growing companies, MPB Strategies. At USinternetworking, she led her team in creating a new business category which contributed to the company’s efforts to complete an initial public offering (IPO) and drive first year contracts to $158M.

Perry holds a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School), and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She serves on the advisory boards for technology companies including Eloqua and Zenoss and is a member of the UMBC Research Park Board. She lives in Annapolis, MD with her husband Joe and children Cameron and Courtney.

Irwin Studen
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

photo coming soonIrwin Studen joined GetWellNetwork as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. With extensive experience in the healthcare and technology industries, Studen oversees and manages financial operations for GetWellNetwork.

Prior to joining GetWellNetwork, Studen consulted with a portfolio company of GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC, a $9 billion private equity firm, where he assisted with mergers & acquisitions in healthcare IT. In this capacity, Studen managed the process of identifying and qualifying $50-$500 million revenue targets and developing the modeling, valuation, financing and due diligence of such opportunities.

Previously, Studen was Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of SXC Health Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:SXCI; TSX, SXC), a leading provider of software systems and ASP solutions to the managed care and pharmacy benefit management industries headquartered in Chicago and Toronto. In his capacity as CFO, Studen was responsible for all accounting/finance, administrative, corporate development and investor relations activities and helped grow the company over a five year period from a $40 million to more than $400 million market capitalization through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions.

Studen has also held a number of full-time and interim CFO assignments with public and private companies, including Wireless Matrix, (TSX:WRX), a leading provider of mobile resource management solutions, Marketswitch Corporation, a provider of offer optimization software solutions sold to Experian and CoStar Group (Nasdaq:CSGP), the leading provider of commercial real estate information to the brokerage industry.

Studen holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the Columbia School of Engineering & Applied Science. Studen lives in Reston, VA and has two daughters.

Robin Cavanaugh
Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer

Robin CavanaughAs Chief Technology Officer for GetWellNetwork, Robin provides the coordinates and leads the teams responsible for software development, systems administration, implementation and installation, and research and development.

Robin’s experience in the technical field flows from software development in the late 1980s, bringing internet and process management technology to several government agencies including Department of Health and Human Services; to providing the technical leadership to a small consulting firm by spearheading the developing genetic a genetic HLA typing database to facilitate matching of tissue samples from donors to those of recipient, creating document imaging and indexing software for grant preparation and submission, and establishing system applications and process design for the Center for Mental Health Services.

Leaving the public sector, Robin moved to a growing software consulting firm, iXL, Inc./Scient, where he provided services to several Fortune 500 companies, including Monsanto, Dupont, GE. His role expanded with the growing company to Vice President of Engineering – eventually leading 50+ engineers as they continued to execute on projects for numerous clients.

A fortuitous introduction to GetWellNetwork yielded the opportunity to lead the charge on the development of new platform that would change the way that patients experience healthcare. Having brought the product from prototype to production, and overseen numerous successful implementations Robin’s focus is now the continued growth of the engineering staff, the core GWN product and the future technical direction of the of the GetWellNetwork.

David Wright
Chief Outcomes Officer

David WrightDavid Wright brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and hospital leadership to GetWellNetwork and our client hospitals. Prior to joining the organization, Wright spent 13 years as the lead marketing, strategy and business development executive for the Inova Health System, one of the top integrated and largest health systems on the eastern seaboard.

Wright’s role is principally centered on assisting our clients achieve their desired outcomes. He often serves in a consultative capacity to our clients, combining his experience and knowledge of hospital strategy and operations with the capabilities of the GetWellNetwork system to ensure that each hospital is receiving maximum value from the interactive platform.

Greater Washington universities recognize Wright as an outstanding preceptor and adjunct faculty member. Wright has received numerous awards for communications, advertising, public relations, health care strategy and marketing excellence including the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) national marketing excellence award.

Wright has a B.S. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Masters degree in public health with an emphasis in health care administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. Wright lives in Northern Virginia with his wife Ruth and their three children.

Michael Schram
Vice President, Sales

Michael SchramMichael Schram joined GetWellNetwork in November of 2006, bringing over 20 years of sales and sales management experience to the organization. Schram is responsible for leading the company’s sales efforts.

Prior to GetWellNetwork, Schram worked in the Cardiac Rhythm and Disease Management division for Medtronic, Inc., a world leader in medical devices. Schram also ran sales for the Midwest Region for Parametric Technology Corporation, a billion dollar engineering and manufacturing software company based in Needham, Massachusetts. Additionally, Schram spent several years with Mountain View, California-based Ariba, the leader in Web-based spend management solutions; and Endeca, Incorporated, a leader in search engine technology.

Schram graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree in Marketing and holds an MBA, with honors distinction. Schram lives in Overland Park, KS, with his wife Sara, and their four children.

Tony Cook
Vice President, Marketing

Tony CookTony Cook, a veteran high-tech marketing executive, joined GetWellNetwork in December 2009 to lead the marketing effort to help hospitals leverage GetWellNetwork’s solutions to achieve important health care priorities such as patient satisfaction and engagement.

Cook was most recently the vice president of Americas Marketing at Tandberg where he was responsible for driving brand awareness and demand for sales and channel partners. He helped drive sales through innovative marketing programs resulting in 20% revenue growth for the Americas division during his tenure. Cook also held executive marketing positions at Unisys Federal, Digital Paper, Metavante and Quadramed. While at Software AG he played a key role in the company’s IPO on the NYSE.

Cook holds a B.S. in Marketing from The Ohio State University.
