GetWellNetwork, Inc. Announces the Newest Release of its Interactive Patient Care Platform: PatientLife System 2.5

Solution Offers Expansive Functionality to Better Enable Nurses to Care for Patients’ Needs

BETHESDA, Md. – July 17, 2007 – GetWellNetwork, Inc., a leading provider of Interactive Patient Care solutions, today announced the general availability of the PatientLife System® 2.5.  The PatientLife System provides a fully integrated care approach, delivering a personalized care experience with education, communication and entertainment tools via television or touch screen monitors. Continuing on a record of innovation, the new system includes a number of enhancements designed to improve the patient experience while also providing nurses and administrators easier access to valuable patient activity data.

Following a client feedback period in partnership with Christiana Care Hospital, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and King’s Daughters Medical Center, PatientLife System 2.5 delivers on priority client requests as well as feedback received from patients and nurses, including enhanced reporting functionality, role-based access and improved access to patient profile information.  This release also includes an expanded library of interactive games for patients to enjoy.

“We are very pleased with the GetWellNetwork upgrades,” said Stacy Patrick, R.N., BSN, director of Cardiovascular Patient Care, King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY.  “This latest release of the PatientLife System greatly enhances our ability to incorporate the system into our daily nursing activities.  The new features make it easier for nurses to locate specific patient information and to prescribe patient education with just a couple clicks of the mouse.”

Specifically, the innovative capabilities included with the PatientLife System 2.5 are:

Patient Pathway™ Utilization Reporting – With more than 83 percent of GetWellNetwork clients using a Patient Pathway, representing more than 70 individual Patient Pathways live at hospitals across the country, clients have the ability to easily create reports for patient usage of standard Patient Pathways.  Based on patent-pending technology, a Patient Pathway is a virtual guide for patients through critical aspects of their stay, inviting them to learn more about their care, condition and safety.

Role-Based Access – Controlling access to the Web-based Management Console is now more efficient.  By assigning a specific role to each user, the system will automatically configure the user’s permissions to include access to the functions pertinent to that individual’s role.

Patient Profile – Retrieving specific data about a particular patient’s use of the PatientLife System is now easier to access and navigate.  The Patient Profile functionality of the Web-based Management Console has been reformatted for easier viewing, “searchability” and prescribing of patient education.

Distributed Video – This enhancement allows hospitals to establish multiple video servers that can each house their own channel list and video on-demand channels.  This increases the ability of the GetWellNetwork system to support large hospitals as well as those hospitals that place heavy demands on their video servers.  [Hardware and configuration services apply.]

Classic Arcade Games – Clients now have the ability to offer classic arcade games to patients.  More than 50 titles that initially gained popularity in the 1980s can be accessed directly through the PatientLife System – without using any additional handheld peripherals.  [Minimum hardware requirements apply.]

“GetWellNetwork is fortunate to receive such valuable feedback from our client hospitals on ways we can further enhance the PatientLife System to best meet the needs of their patients, nurses and administrators,” said Michael O’Neil, Jr., founder and CEO of GetWellNetwork, Inc.  “The release of the PatientLife System 2.5 demonstrates our increasing focus on examining all the patient touch-points throughout a hospital stay to discover ways we can improve on a hospital’s ability to provide a positive patient experience while offering a rewarding and efficient nursing experience.”

GetWellNetwork empowers patients by placing them at the center of their own care experience.  The PatientLife System turns the television in the patient room into a full interactive resource during a hospital stay.  By using a wireless keyboard, touch screen or other handheld devices, patients interact with the system to access valuable education, communication and entertainment tools.  This innovative technology is called Interactive Patient Care (IPC) – enabling healthcare organizations to deliver true patient-centered care, and proven to help improve the cost, quality, and service of care delivery.  The PatientLife System 2.5 is generally available to all GetWellNetwork clients.
