PledgeToProtectME.org puts popular self-monitoring tool in hands of Mainers
Pledge to Protect ME today announced that it has partnered with GetWellNetwork®, a leading global digital health technology company, to help all Mainers confidently monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. Maine residents will have access to GetWellNetwork’s COVID-19 self-monitoring tools via its digital solution, GetWell Loop™, simply by signing into PledgeToProtectMe.org. The initiative — a result of a hackathon hosted by MyHealthMath — encourages Mainers to publicly declare their commitment to social distancing and support their community members in the difficult task of staying home.
Currently utilized by more than 200 health facilities across the nation, this user-friendly symptom tracker empowers individuals to monitor their health and the health of their family members and know when to seek help. The free tool will help the worried well find comfort, help people who can recover safely at home to do so and help those who need medical intervention to get it in a timely way.
GetWell Loop’s COVID-19 module provides Mainers the ability to self-monitor and easily record their daily health on their smartphones, then easily track updates on a clinical-grade dashboard. The solution also makes available the latest COVID-19 news and prevention best practices continuously updated with the latest WHO and CDC guidelines, self-diagnosis and care recommendations. Users receive customized information around the COVID-19 pandemic and suggestions on self-monitoring for symptoms and action steps if infected.
“There are so many conflicting messages. It is hard to know what to do. But you know yourself better than any world leader or cable commentator. This tool empowers you to take charge of your own health, monitor it safely at home, access information you need and know when it’s time to get more medical care. You can be your own health authority,” said MyHealthMath Chief Mission Officer and Medical Director Elizabeth Coté, M.D., MPA. “We’re counting on the support of municipalities and employers across Maine to spread the word about PledgeToProtectMe.org, to encourage physical distancing and to help community members make informed decisions about their health.”
“We are excited to collaborate with Pledge to Protect ME in this unique citizen-to-citizen public health effort. This partnership demonstrates the value of GetWell Loop in addressing public health challenges faced by communities across the globe,” said Michael O’Neil, founder and CEO, GetWellNetwork. “In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, empowering patients with the latest clinical guidelines to self-manage, monitor and quarantine have never been more important. In light of the ongoing challenges COVID-19 presents, our team commits to continue bringing real-world solutions now and into the future.”
Since launching on March 19, GetWell Loop’s COVID-19 modules have been activated by health systems and hospitals across the country, including Bon Secours Mercy Health (Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia), Atrium Health (North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia), LifeBridge Health (Maryland), NorthBay Healthcare (California), St. Lawrence Health System (New York) and University of Rochester Medical Center (New York).
GetWell Loop is a digital care management technology created by GetWellNetwork that provides individuals access to health professionals through automated virtual check-ins. The solution identifies patients in real-time who need help. Governments, including state and local health departments, hospitals and health systems are able to reach more individuals and proactively intervene before costs and complications escalate.
PledgeToProtectME.org resulted from a hackathon where Insurtech startup MyHealthMath convened 65 of the top developers, business analysts, UX designers and public health officials in Maine to devise ways to address rising COVID-19 cases across the state. Additionally, the hackathon — jointly sponsored with SaviLinx, The VIA Agency, Cross Employee Benefits and StartUp Maine — generated innovative ideas to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
In addition to its “Self-Monitoring Loop,” GetWellNetwork offers three other COVID-19 digital care plans through GetWell Loop: “Active Symptom or Exposure Loop,” “Pediatric Active Symptom + Monitoring Loop” and “Healthcare Employee Loop.”
