GetConnected2011 Focuses on Patient Activation Across the Care Continuum

BETHESDA, MD. – January 20, 2011 – GetWellNetwork, Inc., today announced the 4th annual user conference, GetConnected2011, will be held from May 2-4, 2011 at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The 2011 users conference will emphasize new ways for clinicians and staff to improve the patient’s journey across the care continuum, starting from pre-admission and extending to home after discharge.

The GetConnected conference is a valuable opportunity for clinicians and hospital leaders to share best practices with fellow colleagues and learn new ways to leverage and drive outcomes using the industry’s first digital platform from GetWellNetwork to engage patients personally and compassionately throughout the patient care continuum. “Each year, we are impressed and inspired by the passionate leaders who attend GetConnected to improve patient care at their hospitals,” said Michael O’Neil, founder and CEO, GetWellNetwork, Inc. “It’s such a critical time for our hospital partners as they adapt and innovate around new patient care models. Our rapidly growing community has resulted in record registrations, and we look forward to them sharing first-hand the latest innovations and solutions that will transform the way they engage and empower their patients.

This year’s conference attendees will have a variety of client-led sessions and hands-on workshops to explore new interactive patient care solutions on topics such as:

  • Integrating Interactive Patient Care into Care Management
  • Meaningful Use and Value-based Purchasing
  • Pediatric and Adult Fall Safety
  • Pediatric Asthma Care Plan
  • Heart Failure Care Plan
  • Pharmacy Retail Services
  • Pain Management
  • Medication Teaching
  • Optimizing Discharge for Pediatric Hospitals
  • Patient Education including exclusive pediatric KidsHealth® video content
  • Patient Education Utilization

The 2011 GetConnected program is planned by a GetWellNetwork client committee comprised of clinicians and administrative leaders of prestigious hospitals who have volunteered their time to provide attendees with an exceptional learning opportunity. This year’s committee is comprised of:

  • Dr. Lori Marshall, Co-Chair of the Patient Education Committee and Assistant Professor at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles;
  • Janet Miller, Discharge Coordinator at the Indiana Heart Hospital;
  • Marcia Laesch, Nurse Manager at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center;
  • Linda Fisher, Director and Volunteer Guest Services at the Medical Center of the Rockies;
  • Julie Brandeu, Manager of Education Department at the Village Hospital; and
  • Katherine Pereira-Ogan, Director of Service Excellence at Christiana Care Health System.
