Director of Operations

Opportunity:

 

The Institute of Interactive Patient Care (IIPC) located in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Director of Operations to assist the overall operations of IIPC and in particular, to manage day-to-day oversight of its research efforts.

The Institute for Interactive Patient Care (IIPC) is dedicated to empowering patients through active patient and family/caregiver engagement in their health care. Through research, IIPC evaluates and demonstrates the efficacy and impact of patient engagement through a variety of modalities and methods.   IIPC’s mission is to foster widespread adoption of patient and family/caregiver engagement strategies, proven to optimize patient care outcomes, as a standard of practice in all health care settings.

 IIPC accomplishes its mission through high quality research and public advocacy for advances in policy, standards and payment reform.

This not for profit organization is pursuing the following goals:

  • To be the foremost thought leader on the role of patient and family engagement in all health care settings.
  • To be a reliable source of information and evidence based data on the impact and efficacy of patient and family engagement.
  • To create a forum through which health care leaders worldwide learn about and adopt best practices in patient and family engagement as a principal means to advance health care outcomes.
  • To advance policy, standards and payment reform based on the evidence-based demonstration of the efficacy of interactive patient care.
  • To stimulate innovation and adoption of interactive patient care technology as an effective and efficient means to improve the health of populations across the care continuum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Director of Operations will report directly to the President of IIPC and will support the efforts of the President, the National Advisory Board and the Research Team at the School of Population Health in carrying out research and informing relevant organizations and individuals of the findings and studies underway to demonstrate the efficacy of Interactive Patient Care.


 

In particular, the Director will have the following set of duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Support the identification of research opportunities based upon industry interest, trends and funding opportunities
  • Support development of research briefs, protocols and the process of obtaining relevant approvals from Institutional Review Boards for Board approved research projects
  • Provide overarching day-to-day management of all research.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of the modalities and methods tested during research to optimize research results
  • Interacts daily with nursing leaders and staff nurses to ensure integration of the research method or modality into daily patient care practice.
  • Project management of all go-live research initiatives.
  • Assist managing communications with Corporate members and sponsors to include:

·         Identification and prioritization of patient engagement research interests

·         Funding sources

·         Selection of research sites

·         Research Project Plan, Status and Findings

  • Support Research Sponsors in designing, testing and deploying functionality used in the research at the IIPC living laboratories..
  • Maintain constant communication with all key hospital champions of research initiatives.
  • Monitor utilization levels of patient education pathways and generate corresponding reports.
  • Identify Federal and other grant funding opportunities.
  • Support President of IIPC with IIPC communications with the Board of Directors. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Experience in conducting research initiatives.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or health services facility.
  • Prior experience in hospital/bed-side nursing experience
  • Successful track record in identifying and procuring funding from private and public sources for health care related research.
  • Ability to relate very well with staff nurses and hospital administrators.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Nursing or Health Administration.
  • Masters degree in either of the above a plus.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in research.
