Hardware Product Designer

Opportunity:

GetWellNetwork, Inc., a fast-growing Interactive Patient Care solutions company based in Bethesda, MD is seeking a talented hardware product designer. This person must possess a relentless attention to detail, a gifted eye for aesthetics and the ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex matters.

The candidate must be a natural collaborator who prefers being creative in a team environment, a passionate customer advocate and be capable of crafting and designing simple solutions to complex design problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•          Understand & capture intended hardware product usage within the hospital environment

•          Develop aesthetic design concepts and alternatives

•          Prepare materials and mock-ups necessary to construct cosmetic/test models

•          Run usability assessments

•          Lead the communication and interaction activities with vendors as it relates to hardware product design

•          Manage vendor relationships and their successful integration into the product effort as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·      Exceptional understanding of fundamental design disciplines and principals (affordance, clustering, consistency, usability, etc.)

·      Superior eye for design and detail with the drive to create strong conceptual, communication, and creative problem-solving skills.

·      Experienced creating or designing innovative and engaging user experiences

·      An outstanding design portfolio demonstrating the successful delivery of innovative hardware products

·      Highly versed in design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator; knowledge of interaction prototyping tools such as Flash is a big plus.

·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively, working with employees at all levels and when applicable take direction to meet creative and business needs.

Credentials & Experience:

·      Minimum 5 years of experience as a product designer

·      Bachelors degree in interaction design, product design and/or visual design (or equivalent)
