User Interface Software Engineer

GetWellNetwork, Inc., a fast growing interactive patient care software company based in Bethesda, MD is seeking a talented, enthusiastic User Interface Engineer to design, develop, and support innovative technical solutions to healthcare business problems. This position requires a balance of knowledge, ingenuity and the ability to solve problems. Researching, troubleshooting and prototyping are key tools required for success.

This position requires a strong background in and experience with user interface and usability design, review and testing. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects around user interface design and usability. Therefore, the ability to quickly adapt design processes and documentation styles is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, deconstruct and renovate management, administration and content editing tools.
• Design, develop, prototype, implement, test and document the Patient Experience of the PatientLife:)System
• Provide recommendations for changes and improvements
• Provide application support on GetWellNetwork applications to clients, end users, and staff
• Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• AJAX, JavaScript (e.g. jQuery)
• HTML, DHTML, CSS.
• Strong skills in XML (XSLT, XPath, DTDs).
• Design understanding for usability and accessibility.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and comfort refactoring
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
• Flash a plus
• Graphical design ability or experience working with designers a plus
• Linux/Unix knowledge a plus
• Scripting language skills (python, awk, bash) a plus

Credentials and Experience:

• 2+ years related Web development work experience
• 1+ years related AJAX development work experience
• Demonstrated experience in designing extremely usable, user-oriented interfaces.
